Kanata United Church, located in Ottawa’s west end, is looking for a dedicated individual to fill the role of Coordinator of Children, Youth & Families. Kanata United Church is a vibrant and active congregation, with many young families. Our priority is to provide opportunities for children, youth, and their families to grow spiritually, put their faith into action, and develop leadership skills. As the Coordinator of Children, Youth & Families, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of meaningful programs that inspire and support the spiritual growth of our young members, both within the congregation and in the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, and lead engaging programs for children, youth, and their families.
  • Foster spiritual growth and leadership skills among children and youth.
  • Work closely with families and other members of the congregation to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Be open to new approaches and creative ideas for program delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children and youth in a leadership or educational capacity.
  • Passion for connecting with children and youth to help them discover their spirituality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, youth, and their families.
  • An understanding of the theology and philosophy of the United Church of Canada is essential.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required.

Position Details:

  • Part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week).
  • Flexible hours, with availability on Sundays and occasional evenings.

Kanata United Church is Looking for a Director of Music!

Located in the western end of Ottawa, Kanata United Church (KUC) is a vibrant and active congregation with many young families.  KUC is an Affirming Church that values diversity and inclusiveness, with a rich music ministry.  The ministry of music is integral to our worship and plays an important role in the intergenerational life of the church.  Our worship service structure is traditional but open to a wide range of musical expression. 

 The ideal candidate will be proficient in piano and organ, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and friendliness, and an appreciation for diversity of spiritual expression through music.  The ability to work as part of a team is necessary.  The Director must have, or be able to obtain, a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check. 

This is a part-time position, approximately 23 hours per week.  The hours of work are flexible but availability to work on Sundays and occasional evenings is required.  There is a generous compensation and benefits package.
